IELTS students. Are you stuck with trying to get a better band in your IELTS Writing essay? Do you keep getting 6.5 band repeatedly? Are you trying to get to a 7 band essay? If so, here’s our IELTS tip of the day for writing module:
Think about why you’re writing an essay and who the audience is?
An essay is usually written for an Evaluator.
Its not for you, its not for general public. Its for the evaluator.
Imagine in your head that you are explaining your viewpoint on the subject to a single person, which is the Evaluator. This will help you keep focus. How well would they understand your viewpoint?
Here are the musts for a good essay:
- IntroductionPreferably paraphrased and clearly stating your point or the central idea of an essay.
- DevelopmentBody paragraphs have a progressive approach of your main idea. In simple words, explain your W’s (What, When, Where, Why) & How progressively.Usually a good body paragraph introduces 2 or more supporting arguments illustrated by an example.
- An appropriate conclusionA good conclusion is presenting a gist of your main ideas.
We hope this helps add perspective to your writing.
