The AIPP Program and jobs in Canada
Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) was launched by the Government of Canada in 2017.
It was a new initiative to promote the Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island (PEI), and New Brunswick) as immigration destinations for immigration applicants.

These provinces are beautiful places to live and raise children. This is something that is very important, if not the most important, criteria for a lot of applicants.
There are 3 categories in the AIPP:
- Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP)
- Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP)
- Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP)
Eligibility
- Skilled programs: A job offer from a designated employer from any one of the 4 provinces
- International Graduate Program: For students who have recently graduated from a DLI institute (college/university) in one of the provinces.
Employers
So far, the dilemma has been this. Who are these employers?
The employer list was kept hidden. This wasn’t very helpful for a lot of people.
Whats the good news?
Now, Newfoundland and Labrador have released a list of 172 employers that have achieved designated status from the government to hire international workers.
For immigration hopefuls, this list is big news. There are employers in many different industries here – Software, Aviation, Healthcare, Food, Retail.
172 is a huge list for a small province, the size of Newfoundland but it goes to show that there is high need for foreign workers in these maritime provinces. The government is stepping up the immigration programs as average age of their exisiting population is increasing, and people also continue to move out into bigger provinces like Quebec and Ontario.
There will be an estimated shortage of 100,000 people in skilled jobs in these provinces in the next 5-10 years.
Below is a list of 172 designated employers from Newfoundland and Labrador.
The other 3 (Nova Scotia, PEI and New Brunswick) provinces will be coming out with their lists in the future we presume. As soon as they do, we will update you on this page. It’s looking like we are going to have a hefty list once all the employers are made public.
